About
Bratton Creative was built for the people who were passionate about their project but didn’t know how to move forward. Solo operators, founders, micro businesses with a plan but no clear path. People who were told their idea wouldn’t work, or got burned by an agency before, or couldn’t tell which ones were worth trusting in the first place.
BC existed to give those people a straight answer and something that lasts. Every client who came through left with a clear plan of action, demonstrable results, and work that still runs today.
My name is Zak Bratton. I built it.
WHO WE BUILT THIS FOR
Bratton Creative was built for the people doing it themselves. Solo operators, founders, micro businesses with fewer than ten people. The ones running things out of a truck, a studio, or a spare bedroom.
It was also there for those who’d been counted out or overlooked. Hard workers, grinders, and underdogs with no time or money to waste, who needed a straight answer from someone who wouldn’t talk over them or talk down to them. People who were skilled at their craft, figuring out everything else as they go, and not looking for anyone’s permission.
That’s who showed up. That’s who BC served.
How We Got here
It was never just about the work, building something from scratch, or making the biggest business possible. It was about giving people a voice when they were underserved, unsure, dismissed, or doubted.
Sometimes that meant writing. Sometimes it meant standing at a counter walking someone through a system that confused them, or building a resource they could use without me.
The writing came first. It started with a journalism degree at Colorado State University Pueblo, chasing feature pieces on people and topics nobody else was covering. Underdog stories. Writing gave them a voice and a platform when no one else would, and that felt like the whole point.

The same thread ran through everything after. Sales floors, retail teams, and then five years in the Colorado court system, where I moved from judicial assistant into direct access-to-justice work as a Self-Represented Litigant Coordinator.
I spent my days with people trying to navigate a legal system that wasn’t designed for someone without a lawyer. And that’s where I saw it clearly: the information people needed usually existed, it just wasn’t written for them, or wasn’t where they could actually find it.
I finished my government years as Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Office of Attorney Regulation Counsel (OARC) for the Colorado Supreme Court, where closing that gap became the actual job.
I built and maintained the communications infrastructure serving 41,000+ licensed attorneys across Colorado. Newsletters, regulatory guidance, self-service resources. All of it written by hand, under real constraints, before generative AI existed. A time when accuracy and objectivity weren’t optional, they were expected.
Most of that work is still publicly accessible today: Communications Archive – Zak Bratton.
Bratton Creative came next, with the same question guiding everything we did: how do I make sure this person gets the help they actually need?
From Freelance to LLC
Bratton Creative started in 2021 as a one-person freelance operation. No investors, no team, no safety net. Just a desk, a decade of hard-earned skills, and the belief that the smallest businesses deserved the same quality of help as the ones with money to burn.
Two years later, there was enough steady work to make it official. Bratton Creative became an LLC in 2023 with one simple goal: get off the freelance platforms, put everything under one roof, and find out if the skills could hold up as a real business. They did. Just not in the way I expected.
Every client who came through BC was great at what they did, they just needed someone in their corner for the parts they couldn’t figure out. Someone who would tell them the truth, find the real problem, help them move forward, and leave them with something they could continue on their own. Sometimes, that meant having difficult conversations, changing the plan mid-project, or even saying no.
A referral came in from an operations leader at a construction company who needed real help, but the scope was too large for a one-person shop to handle responsibly. BC helped him secure his domain, pointed him toward the right redesign options, and sent him off with a clear path toward his goals. That was the right answer for his situation and his business, not the answer that would have made BC the most money.
That’s the standard BC was built on.
Where things stand
BC’s active chapter is complete. The practice is maintained in a limited capacity, supporting one long-term client and keeping the resource library free and open. The clients are documented. The frameworks are still being downloaded. The work isn’t going anywhere, and it’ll keep working as long as you do.
The project is done but the work isn’t.
Bratton Creative was built for the people doing it themselves, the hard workers, grinders, and underdogs who’d been knocked down before and kept going. We did the work; use it when you need to.
